SEED TIME AND HARVEST
Genesis 8:22 (amp) While the earth remains, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
In Gen 8:22 God gives us a foundational law, that as long as the earth is in being, there will be cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night and seed time and harvest.
In the earth there operates the principle of seed time and harvest. We can see this all around us, fruit falls from trees then the seed within the fruit grow over time into another tree, which bears even more fruit, which falls to the ground, producing a cycle, here we have God's system of increase.
The seeds are constantly reproducing, producing more and more seeds in ever increasing numbers, of course multiplication is affected by such factors as weather, quality of soil, health of the tree. But if all things are favourable a cycle of increase is begun.
Psalms 115:14 May the LORD give you increase more and more, You and your children.
Increase in God not only applies to natural trees, plants and flowers but to every area of life.
All life forms reproduce by sowing their seed or sperm into another of their same species, the result is reaped as fruit, the offspring of that species. The system of sowing and reaping forms the basis for life.
This not only works biologically but it is also a principle that is operating in all of our lives. All our relationships operate within the law of seed time and harvest, sowing and reaping.
Galatians 6:7 ?gBe not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
How does a man or woman sow in life if they are not farming?
All words that we use and speak are seeds.
1 Peter 1:23 - Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
Here the Bible gives us two important truths, there are incorruptible seed or incorruptible words and there are corruptible seeds or corruptible words.
There are different kinds of outcome from the word of God, e.g. there is healing, financial, the different kind of outcome are all contained on the inside of the seed (or seed word). The bible is like a big bag of seed. These are what the bible calls incorruptible seed, they are eternal and cannot be corrupted.
Corruptible seed came from the words that were introduced in the Garden of Eden.
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle and crafty than any living creature of the field which the Lord God had made. And he [Satan] said to the woman, Can it really be that God has said, You shall not eat from every tree of the garden?
What did God actually say?
Genesis 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, You may freely eat of every tree of the garden;
1Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and blessing and calamity you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.
Notice how God's word was corrupted, or twisted subtly, God said you may freely eat of every tree, except one, the tree of the knowledge and told them why.
Satan twisted it to say 'Didn't God say you shall not eat from every tree.
God's words are incorruptible words, or seeds, satan's words are corruptible words or seeds.
Like sperm seed and it's result birth bears fruit, both corruptible and incorruptible words or seed, produces fruit according to it's kind. healing seed produces healing fruit, sickness seed produces sickness fruit.
Genesis 1:12 And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Just as God seed (good seed) produces love, healing, joy, peace fruit, satan seed (bad seed) produces the twisted opposite. The opposite of healing is sickness, of love is fear, of joy is sadness, of peace is strife, whatever seed, or word is sown, the result or harvest (return) will be of the kind of fruit that was sown.
So how does this work practically in our lives?
Galatians 6:8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
When we speak, we are sowing into our life and the lives of others, we are either sowing to the flesh (the corrupt, or temporal) or to the spirit (the incorruptible, or eternal).
Jesus said "The sower sows the word. (Mark 4:14) and then He says The seed is the word of God. (Luke 8:11)
Then Jesus goes on to say that when the seed is sown in various soil conditions, from stony ground to good soil, in stony ground it withers and does not fruit, in good ground it produces a harvest of from 60 to 100 fold.
The key factor Jesus says is understanding, it is the one who understands that bears the fruit, according to his understanding (or revelation of the word) determines the level of fruit, harvest 60 to 100 fold.
How are we to understand?
There are two types of understanding, understanding regarding natural things, for instance understanding the instructions of how to operate a phone, and there is spiritual understanding given by the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of understanding. (Is 11:2 amp) the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Holy Spirit when asked will illuminate the word of God (John 16:13), this is called revelation, as He did for Peter.
Matt 16:13 (amp) He asked His disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?"
Matt 16:16 (amp) Simon Peter replied, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
Matt 16:17 (amp) Then Jesus said "For flesh and blood [men] have not revealed this to you, but My Father Who is in heaven."
This is Holy Spirit revelation (the fruit of the word of God in us (Col 1:27)), the Holy Spirit will reveal Jesus Christ through your born again spirit as a seed of the word of God.
The seed then begins to grow in the ground of our heart (spirit) and then grows up into our soul (mind will emotions), as revelation, renewing your mind, changing your soul image, moving you closer and closer into the very image of Christ, so that your soul begins to reflect your born again spirit.
2 Cor 3:18 And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.
How does the seed get planted?
Prov 4:5 Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them.
Wisdom is the word of God, we are to get the word of God with understanding (revelation from the Holy Spirit).
This is the process
Prov 4:20 My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words.
Prov 4:21 Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart;
Prov 4:22 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Rom 10:17 So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).
When the word of God comes illuminated by the Holy Spirit to our heart which is our ground, it comes as a result of incorruptible word that was sown when we heard the word.
So the process is when you read (see) and speak (sow) you hear (plant) and the word goes into your heart (ground), where it begins to grow and produce fruit (harvest) 60-100. according to the understanding we receive from the Holy Spirit.
Your life is now a result of the words you speak and the words spoken to you and received by you with understanding.
If they were the wrong words, begin now to plant new words of life and receive the harvest of life.
Sowing and reaping are foundational principles that will never go away. Seed time and harvest refer to every area of life. Seeds that are sown into the ground determine what type of crops will grow.
Sowing and reaping is in effect when we speak to others, we sow into their lives, either corrupt words hurt, abusive, offensive, or incorrupt words, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. (Gal 5:22-23)
For example, if a farmer sows corn seeds into the ground, he is sure to receive a harvest of corn. Likewise, when you sow God?fs Word into your heart, it is inevitable for you to reap His promises.
God?fs kingdom is a system of casting seeds into the ground (Mark 4:26-32).
* The Word is incorruptible seed that comes from God; it will never fail.
* The seeds that you sow determine what you get in return.
* For example, if you sow evil and strife, you?fll receive evil and strife. If you sow forgiveness, you?fll receive forgiveness. If you give, it will be given to you (Luke 6:36-38).
* There is a promise in God?fs Word that will meet every need that you have (Philippians 4:19).
* When you decide what kind of harvest you want, you can find out what kind of seed you need to sow based on the Word of God.
* Your heart is a garden and so is your life. God formed you from the soil of the ground; therefore, your heart is ground for sowing (Genesis 2:7).
* You are not where you are in life for no reason. Your life is a sum total of the seeds you have sown.
If you don't like where you are, or the wrong seeds have been sown, begin now to sow words of life, from the word of God, to reap a harvest of life!
* When you seek God first, read His Word and allow it to be rooted in your heart, you will discover the answers to the issues of life (Matthew 6:33).
* Sow the seed—Put God?fs Word into your heart by finding scriptures on whatever issue you are dealing with (Psalm 34:10; Jeremiah 1:12).
* Water the seed—Read the scripture, write it down, confess it, speak it to others, dream about it, and out of your garden (your heart) will come your prosperity.
