Does God keep his promises, are God's promise real?

If so, why is it that when you stand believing for something, it doesn't seem to happen?

Thousands of years ago, the God of heaven made three promises to a man best known as Abraham. Later, God repeated these promises to Abraham's son, Isaac; much later, God again repeated these promises to Abraham's grandson, Jacob.

Two of these promises affect every living person today in a small way. However, one of those promises directly affects the salvation of everyone who ever lived, who lives now and those who will be born in the future.

God told Abraham: "And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered" (Genesis 13:16).

This promise to multiply the descendants of Abraham was repeated to him in Genesis 22:17 and told to Isaac in Genesis 26:4 and Jacob in Genesis 28:14.

References to numbering Abraham's descendants (commonly called the Jews) in Scripture and the observation of the millions of Abraham's descendants now living proves that God caused this promise to come true.

This is important to us because God also caused Jesus Christ our Savior to be born as one of Abraham's descendants.

Second, God promised Abraham that he would receive a large portion of land, stretching from the Euphrates River to the River of Egypt in the desert.

"In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates" (Genesis 15:18).

Other verses in Genesis repeat this promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God caused this promise to be completed while the Jewish king, Solomon, reigned.

"And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life" (1 Kings 4:21).

Years before, the Jewish leader Joshua said generally that God had fulfilled this promise. ". . . ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof" (Joshua 23:14).

The land promise is important to us because it sustained the Jews while God made them responsible for keeping the Word of God through the ages. Also, the land sustained the Jews until after the birth and ministry of Jesus Christ.

The third promise affects our salvation. God told Abraham "And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice" (Genesis 22:18). This promise was repeated to Isaac (Genesis 26:4) and Jacob (Genesis 28:14).

Through Jesus Christ, a descendant of Abraham, all people have been blessed with the saving Gospel. "And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham" (Galatians 3:8-9).

When God gave the promises to Abraham, God planned to fulfill the promise of blessing through Jesus Christ. "Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ" (Galatians 3:16).

This he did thousands of years after the promise was made. Only the God of heaven could make a promise thousands of years before it was fulfilled. Only God can save the souls of men.

Although God has provided the spiritual blessing of salvation to all souls through Christ, only the souls who obey God will actually receive the forgiveness of sins. Jesus said: "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 7:21).

God's spiritual promise of blessing becomes void toward us if we do not obey the Word of God. The God of heaven has done his part to fulfill that promise and each of us must now do his part.

What do you do when you stand believing and it does not happen?

God?fs promises are eternal, and what He has said in His Word cannot be altered in any way (Psalm 119:89).

God's promises and fulfillment have been established and recorded in the word of God, as Joshua said "Not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spake." The question is, are we pursuing the promises of God so they can come to pass in our lives?

There are two parts to God's promises, God's part and our part. If we want to experience the fulfilment of God?fs promises, we must do our part. Follow these steps,.

1. Locate the promise in the Word of God.

Whatever God says is eternal, it has come to pass or it will surely come to pass.

Whether it deals with healing, finances, or deliverance, the first step to obtaining the promise is to find as many scriptures as you can in the Bible that deal with that particular issue.

When you find them, begin sowing them in your heart, just as a farmer sows seed (Mark 4:14 see the section on seed time and harvest).

2. Believe.

Doubt is the enemy of faith and will cut off the fulfillment of the promise you are standing on.

You must believe what God says, not doubting or wavering, (Jam 1:6 amp) understanding that the promise is a settled issue (Psalm 119:89). If you believe and refuse to let doubt in your heart, the promise will be yours.

3. Determine that the promise is the will of God for you.

This is a crucial step, it is easy to believe that the promises in the bible are true and happened. But like the leper said to Jesus, "I know you can Lord, but will you for me?" (Matt 8:1-3 amp), Jesus said "I will."

Sometimes we believe God can and will do things, but will He do it for me! It is God?fs will for all people to obtain His promises.

4.  Ask God according to John 14:13, 14.

The Lord says if we ask the Father for anything, in the Name of Jesus, He will answer our prayers.

We know that anything that is found in the Bible is the will of God, so when we ask for these things, with the right motives in our hearts,

God is faithful to answer us.

5.  Meditate on the promise daily.

Joshua 1:8 says that we are to meditate on the Word of God day and night. Daily and nightly meditation, through studying, pondering, and speaking God?fs Word aloud will build faith into our hearts.

6.  Cultivate faith, love, and patience.

Nothing in the kingdom of God operates without faith. Faith works by love and patience, which is remaining the same in the face of challenges, and must be employed in order to see the final outcome.

7. Confess the Word of God.

Don?ft let a day go by without declaring the promise several times.

8. Employ your angels.

Angels are sent to minister to the heirs of salvation. They hearken to the voice of the Word, so keep speaking the Scriptures and put your angels to work!

9.  Call those things that are not as though they were.

Whatever is not yet manifest in your life, continue to call those things into existence as if you already possessed them.

10. Don?ft speak anything contrary to the Word

Proverbs 18:21 (amp) Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].  

If your mouth doesn?ft change, your fruit won?ft change!

11. Forgive.

You will not see manifestation if you are in unforgiveness (Mark 11:24).

12.  Believe you?fve received the promise.

13.  Live in the fear of the Lord.

A lifestyle of purity, holiness, and absolute obedience is the key to the blessing flowing in your life (Proverbs 19:23; Psalm 37:7-9).

14.  Remain consistent.

Consistency is the key to the breakthrough.

15. Prayer, fasting, and obedience are critical.

The reason most Christians don?ft see the results they are expecting is because one or more of these steps have not been implemented.

I encourage you to go down the line and identify which of these areas you need to put to work.

When our faith meets corresponding action (action which corresponds to our faith), manifestation is inevitable.

The actions of a doer of the Word must coincide with his confession and their confession must align with the word of God.

When we confess the word of God standing in the faith of Christ, we must not at the same time contradict our confession by taking wrong actions.

For instance, if we confess that we are trusting God to provide for our financial needs, according to Prov 3:5 but at the same time we are worrying about how we?fre going to pay our bills. (Matt 6:31)

There is no corresponding action to our faith there. One minute we confess that the Word of God is true, and the very next moment we contradict everything we say by wrong actions.

This is acting out of unbelief, worry is unbelief and will block our harvest.

Our actions have to correspond with our believing if we are to receive from God.

James 2:18 (WNT) Nay, some one will say, "You have faith, I have actions: prove to me your faith apart from corresponding actions and I will prove mine to you by my actions.

Don?ft just sit back and wait for something to happen.

Pursue the promises of God so you can obtain what?fs rightfully yours! Manifestation is inevitable.

Not only are God's promise real, they are eternal and are eternally yours!
