Committed to Setting the Captives Free, in the Fear of the Lord! (Luke 4:18, Is 49:8,9, Is 11:2) |
The Dangers of Backsliding
God loves you so much and will never leave you or forsake you (Heb 1:3-5), in fact God says
1 Cor 1:9 'God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus. He will never give up on you. Never forget that' (msg).
What wonderful news, the Lord Himself will never ever give up on us no matter what we do or what happens.
In fact, God has made a way of escape to deal with any situation or circumstance we find our self in. When life deals out temptation that causes us to stumble in our walk with Him, God has made provision for us to come right back into His presence, totally forgiven and cleansed.
James 3:2 says For we all often stumble and fall and offend in many things. And if anyone does not offend in speech [never says the wrong things], he is a fully developed character and a perfect man, able to control his whole body and to curb his entire nature. (amp)
We can come back Before God and repent (change our mind and turn back to God through Christ and His word))
1 John 1:9 If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action]. (amp)
However, we need to understand that if we do not repent, if for example we consider the other person to be to blame and we remain in a place, of unforgiveness we then begin to walk in that unforgiveness.
If we remain in unforgiveness, we remain outside of God, God is not outside of us, but we can begin to walk outside of Him.
It is important to realise that God will never leave us nor abandon us for all eternity, but He has given us free will and we can choose to exercise that free wil by leaving Him. (Rev 2:4-5)
We can never ever 'lose' our salvation
We can never ever 'lose' our salvation, but we can willingly and knowingly walk away from our salvation, when we walk outside of God and into sin and its penalty death.
Heb 6:6 (amp) If they then deviate from the faith and turn away from their allegiance—[it is impossible] to bring them back to repentance, for (because, while, as long as) they nail upon the cross the Son of God afresh [as far as they are concerned] and are holding [Him] up to contempt and shame and public disgrace.
Heb 6:8 (amp) But if [that same soil] persistently bears thorns and thistles, it is considered worthless and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned.
God will protect our right to choose to spend eternity without Him if WE so decide! It will not be God sending us there, but our choice to go there if we walk away from our salvation.
Ezek 3:20 Again, if a righteous man turns from his righteousness (right doing and right standing with God) and some gift or providence which I lay before him he perverts into an occasion to sin and he commits iniquity, he shall die; because you have not given him warning, he shall die in his sin and his righteous deeds which he has done shall not be remembered, but his blood will I require at your hand.
Ezek 3:21 Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man not to sin and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he is warned; also you have delivered yourself from guilt.
When we become disillusioned
When we become disillusioned, hurt by people at church, hurt in Life by friends or relatives, betrayed by others , we can began to be resentful toward God, this can begin a slow slippery slide toward our ignoring Him, not reading the Word, not praying, becoming luke warm and lethargic, which can eventually lead to us turning away from His presence.
This can cause us to begin to be resentful toward God, because we are hurting and it seems He is not interested, we begin to slowly give up on God and turn away from Him.
This is walking in unrepentance, if we continue in this and knowingly and deliberately so, we enter a state called licentiousness, which is sin without restraint.
Jude 1:4 (amp) For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
To be in danger of licentiousness and it's ultimate destination, we have to willingly and knowingly deny Christ and walk in unrepentance, for the remainder of our lives and die in that state.
The moment we repent (change our mind, thinking and actions, we are cleansed from all unrighteousness and are back in the centre of Christ and His forgiveness. (1 John 1:9 amp)
When we are first born again, it seems the Lord is so near, but as we continue our christian walk, many times it seems as though God has slowly become distant, harder to reach and it can seem like we do not feel his presence like we used to,
Before we are first saved, for all of our lives, God is in the process of chasing us, wooing us into His love and presence, wooing us to repent and be born again.
John 6:44 (amp) No one is able to come to Me unless the Father Who sent Me attracts and draws him and gives him the desire to come to Me, and [then] I will raise him up [from the dead] at the last day.
God had been chasing us all our lives since we were born, even though many times we were oblivious to Him, or trying to run the other way like Jonah (1:1-2).
Jeremiah 1:5 ?gBefore I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.?h
God knew you since before you were born, He knew your potential, he had factored in your flaws your weaknessess, your inconsistencies he had formulated them against your talents that he had given to you and he knew the sum total of everything you could become and he is the only one in all the world who completely knows you.
God has chosen you.
God said you have not chosen me for I have chosen you. (John 15:16)
Just as God pursued Adam calling his name, God pursued you, He sought you out, he looked you up, He found you when you were going in another direction
He stepped into all kinds of mess to pull you out and save you, He was committed to delivering you and snatching you out.
Jesus wants to draw us up into the Father, higher and higher not live down where we are (Is 55:8), because where we are we cannot be changed from Glory to Glory, but in Christ (2 Cor 3:18), high in the Fathers presence, we are changed and re arranged to become more like Him. (2 Cor 3:18)
In Song of Solomon 2:8-9 (amp) Jesus is the one that comes down and shows himself at the lattice window.
He came all the way up to the window then said now you come after me
Then He draws back and calls us to rise from our bed and for us to persue Him, for we are now to become the chaser, this is when in our walk with the Lord we reach the point where He begins to seem distant, if we do not persue Him.
3:1 by night on my bed seeing him through the lattice created an appetite in me for Him.
But then when He does not continue to show himself through the lattice, you can find yourself saying that's OK I am saved, I now have enough Christ to take me to heaven so I don't need to continually see Him. and seek Him.
He had showed himself just enough through the lattice of your circumstance, that you think you don't need to get up and seek after him.
I wanted Him to keep coming, but when I tried to seek him lying in my bed doing nothing to build a relationship with Christ, I found that He was not coming when I was laying down.
I tried to seek him in my comfort zone, I tried to seek him but at the same time, stay in the position I was in when I first saw him, I tried within a place that was easy for me and stay where I was but it did not work.
Many are trying to lay in the bed and seek God, but in order to get the fullness of what He has, you have to get up and rise up to the next level.
That sleepy time attitude of 'if God wants me to have it he'll give it to me' place will not work if you are going to break that stronghold that the devil keeps using over your life.
I tried to seek him where I was a sleepy time christian, but it did not work.
I must get up, even if it means hitting the streets, I must get up out of my comfort zone if I have to lay on the alter, fast, even if I have to start studying my bible, whatever it takes for me to get this breakthrough.
I went to my leadership and asked them do you know Jesus, have you seen Him?
Song of Sol 2:3 The watchmen who go about the city found me, to whom I said, Have you seen him whom my soul loves?
I searched and searched for Him and then I found Him and it became an intimate relationship, I found him I held him and loved him and I would not let him go.
Song of Sol 2:4 I had gone but a little way past them when I found him whom my soul loves. I held him and would not let him go until I had brought him into my mother?fs house, and into the chamber of her who conceived me.
I Held on to Him for I want to know how to walk with Him through tough places, in a hurricane, how to ride through a storm.
Mat 6:33-34 tells us that the kingdom will not seek us, we have to seek the kingdom.
Then when we find the kingdom,
Then when we find the kingdom, all these things we have been worried about will be added unto us, the reason God is saying, I left you thinking about all these things, is that you were not thinking about me.
The more you showed me you were not thinking about me, I let you think about the things that you were worried about.
HEB 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
God says that there is no way you can seek him and not be rewarded for it, so if you don' get the reward its your fault
You will find out the whole reason God chose David to be king (the greatest King) is that he was seeking God, seeking His face
When Saul was rejected and Samuel the Prophet was weeping over Saul's rejection, (1 Sam 15) God said, why weep I have found me a man (David) who is seeking my face.
When we have finished trying to get promoted in all kinds of ways that do not line up with God's word and we get tired of seeking people for promotion and realise that promotion comes from the Lord.
God is going to promote you
God is going to promote you and open doors for you that nobody else can.
God said I have found a man who is seeking after me and he will be king. When you start seeking God you will be king,
The good news for you today is that, God who is love, He does not have love, He is love, is ready, right now to forgive and restore you into His love.
He is ready to forgive you and cleanse you from ALL unrighteousness, so that he can place you back into your call in God.
